Who are we?

The UWS Creative Computing Technologies (CCT) Research Group is a multidisciplinary group part of the Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Communications, and Networks (AVCN) Institute at the University of the West of Scotland. 


UWS CCT is the hub of expertise in Computer Animation, 3D Modelling, Computer Games Development, Extended Realities, Immersive Audio, and Music Technologies at UWS.

Our Mission

To advance the understanding and technical applications of creative computing technologies to address societal and industrial challenges in a range of disciplines including, but not limited to, education and training, cultural heritage, entertainment, e-sports, and health and wellbeing.

VREF - Fire Training Simulation in VR - Dr Scott Howie - Alumni

This VR simulation trained participants on how to use different types of fire extinguishers.

UWS Moon Base VR - Raymond Holder - Alumni

Study looking at virtual reality in computer science education. The player is transported on to the UWS moon base where they will take control of a humanoid robot using the VR equipment, the player must then undertake several tasks to avoid a disaster on the moon base.

Virtual Reslity Observation System - Dr Scott Howie - Alumni

Virtual Reality training simulation for oil platfroms engineers developed for Swagelok Scotland. The video shows the Virtual Observation System, which allows to capture user interactions in real-time and rebuild the simulation as experienced by the user for assessment of the training session.
